The Key to a Well-trained Dog is a Loved Dog

Love is the creator of all good things, including a well-trained dog. Real love always provides an element of success in training any animal. There is a variety of specific things that can be done to show any dog that it is loved. Following are those specifics:

 The owner must display kindness at all times and in every situation. If discipline is necessary to reinforce a softly spoken “no,” then using the center cardboard of a roll of paper towels, the owner smacks it on his own arm. The sound and the suddenness of the event will get the dog’s attention and reinforce the softer-spoken “no.” The dog and the owner will not like a sound. Use this training technique judiciously and for developing only the most important and controllable of behaviors, such as jumping on people or tugging unmercifully while on a walk!
 Use verbal praise often. When the dog accomplishes what you want it to do, then use the words “good” and “I love you,” frequently. This act draws loving energy to both the person and the animal. It also will make the dog want to hear those words more all the time. At times, use treats as a reward.
 True companionship is what the dog, or any domestic animal, really wants. Eat together, play together and sleep together (on a comfortable bed of its own, in the same room.) In addition, most of all, train together.

Giving love unconditionally to an animal allows the animal to return that unconditional love to the owner, and it will. Try spelling “dog” in reverse. That answers everything.
